>> The ITM UODG is an O.D. Grinding Machine for chamfering taps or countersinks. The machine is equipped with an automatic cassette loading system that uses standard cassettes for extended production runs. With four CNC controlled axes, setup time is fast, making the machine economical for both large and small tool grinding production runs.
Setting up a new job is easily accomplished. Since the distance from the face of the wheel flange to the point of the tail stock center is known, the operator only needs to enter a small number of parameters such as: tool length, tool O.D., number of flutes, chamfer angle, chamfer length, wheel width, wheel O.D., and the angle(s) of the cam relief. (It is possible to vary the angle of the cam relief along the arc of the chamfer)
The workhead is mounted on a heavy precision slide onto the machine base. It is moved on the slide by a three position hydraulic cylinder for loading and unloading tools. The workhead is equipped with a center the tool is driven with a square driver. During chamfer grinding, the tools are supported in a center on the sturdy tailstock, which is mounted in a fixed position to the machine base. This set-up allows for quick and easy changeovers to different tools because the tip of the tool always determines the location.

CONTROL DESCRIPTION
The machine control is a FANUC CNC with 1 in 1milllion defect rate. Readouts on the control include stored part program, current position coordinates with numbers three times standard size, distance to go, command blocks, machine parameters, used macros and diagnostic data to help service CNC, PLC and grinding programs.
